The Suffering by Rin Chupeco
Haven't read Rin Chupeco's teen debut GIRL FROM THE WELL yet? You. Are. Missing. Out. Based on the same legend that THE RING stems from, it's a must read for any horror fan.

The Death House by Sarah Pinborough
Oh you had to know more Sarah Pinborough praise was coming! This woman has tackled a spider-pocalypse, fairy tale retellings, and Torchwood. Read her!

Chapelwood (The Borden Dispatches Book 2) by Cherie Priest
OMG, Cherie Priest is awesome sauce. Seriously - Cthulu mythology and Lizzie Borden?! Not to mention her fantabulous debut release, FOUR AND TWENTY BLACKBIRDS, which was one of the creepiest ghost stories ever!

Deadlands by Lily Herne
South African author Sarah Lotz is busy, busy, busy! In addition to her solo stuff, she's 1/2 of the S.L. Grey writing team, 1/3 of the Helena S. Paige team, and 1/2 of Lily Herne. (I think that makes her 100% awesome!) This teen zombie series is cowritten with her daughter, Savannah!
4 / 10
Charlotte's Story: A Bliss House Novel by Laura Benedict
Laura Benedict's Bliss House series is one of my favorite haunted house sagas out there! Her work is incredibly dark and atmospheric, and often a bit quirky as well. Definitely recommended if you can handle it!
5 / 10
The Monstrous by Peter Straub
Ellen Datlow is a phenomenal anthology editor! If you haven't checked out one of her gajillions of collections out there, this one is due out very soon :)

Brother by Ania Ahlborn
Ania Ahlborn burst onto the horror scene with her debut SEED and apparently has never looked back. She's cranking out creepy tale after creepy tale, folks, each of them totally unique and different from the one before.

Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand
Elizabeth Hand has been around for quite a while now, but I only discovered her myself recently thanks to an entry in an anthology I came across. I loved it so much I started seeking out her work. WYLDING HALL is a brand spanking new release steeped in creepy folklore and music. It's also a fabulous rural horror read (that's a thing!).
8 / 10
Blood and Salt by Kim Liggett
Kim Liggett's debut is freaking awesome! What's more, her list of upcoming stuff has me seriously wishing it was out already. Liggett is definitely at the top of my must have list now!
